Meet the Team Behind Atlas Canine

Amanda - Owner and Founder

Hello, I’m Amanda, the grateful and proud owner and Founder of Atlas Canine PNW. My journey into working with dogs is rooted in determination and an unwavering drive to help others experience the profound bond with a fulfilled canine.

This journey frequently sparked questions about my relationship with my dogs, which in turn inspired me to share my passion for training and knowledge. In 2021, I took a leap of faith, leaving behind my corporate job to pursue dog training.

Dogs have been an integral part of my life for as long as I can recall. However, it was the adoption of Atlas in 2017 that ignited a deep interest and fueled my desire to learn. Little did I know at the time of adoption, Atlas struggled with severe separation anxiety, a challenge we faced and conquered together.

At 13 years old, he’s a cherished demo dog. He is usually with me at 1:1 sessions and pack walks.

Molly is my 9-year-old APBT. Through unwavering dedication and focused training, she has triumphed over her challenges with our cats, now sharing a safe coexistence with them.

Onyx, my 4-year-old Lab/Shepherd mix, has played a pivotal role in my growth as a trainer. We’ve tackled advanced obedience and ventured into activities like Barn Hunt and have started training for Detection work.

Pippy, my 4-year-old APBT/Bully mix has been a fun addition to the pack and is a great dog to use for dog testing. She has also dabbled in the beginning stages of Detection work as well as Bitework for PSA/K9SL.

Flint (aka Bagel Boi) is my latest foster dog. He is a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois who I am currently training for Explosives Detection.

My passion for fostering dogs stems from my belief that proper training and acclimatization in a home environment, set the dogs up for successful adoption. Having been deeply involved in rescue work, I’ve had the privilege to interact with a diverse range of dogs in terms of personality, breed, and type. My learning journey is perpetual – I’m always observing, training, and refining my skills. I firmly believe that dog training is an ever-evolving journey, never a destination.

To think you have all the answers would be a disservice to the dogs. Each of my dogs has taught me something new, and the process continues. To increase my knowledge, I’ve been working with working dogs, focusing on PSA and Detection work. Witnessing dogs excel in their innate abilities is a truly remarkable experience.

Growing up, I was an avid horsewoman, participating in 4-H, Open shows, OHSET, Barrel Races, and more.

When I’m not immersed in dog-related activities, you’ll find me at the barn with horses, staying active through workouts, enjoying hikes, engaging in shooting and archery, and pursuing creative outlets like woodworking and leatherwork. Nature is my solace, and I thrive as a hands-on creator.
